HOUSTON (March 21, 2025) – Houston Dynamo FC kick off a two-match road stretch at Seattle Sounders FC on Saturday, March 22, with kickoff scheduled for 9:30 p.m. CT at Lumen Field.
The Dynamo and Sounders will face off for the first time since last season’s meeting in the Audi 2024 MLS Cup Playoffs Round One Best-of-3 Series. The two sides played to a scoreless draw in Game 1 in Seattle, as the Dynamo secured their 10th clean sheet of the season. Houston will be looking for its first victory in Seattle on Saturday.
Fans can support the team from Houston at Pitch 25 at the Club’s official watch party. Fans can also follow the action live on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
On their last road trip, Houston earned an important road point in a scoreless draw at the Columbus Crew, while most recently in MLS play, Houston fell 2-1 at home to Real Salt Lake last weekend. Despite the result, the fixture did see forward Ezequiel Ponce score his first goal of the season and midfielder Jack McGlynn record his first assist for Houston on the play. Additionally, goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer replaced an injured Andrew Tarbell in the 37th minute to make his Dynamo debut. Tarbell was ruled out for the season this week with a knee injury.
The Dynamo also hosted the El Salvador in a midweek friendly, defeating the national team 2-1 at Shell Energy Stadium behind goals from midfielder Diego Gonzalez and defender Franco Escobar. The match also featured six Dynamo debuts in defender Felipe Andrade, forward Exon Arzú, forward Andy Batioja, Gonzalez, defender Michael Halliday and midfielder Júnior Urso, while Maurer made his first Dynamo start.
Three players from Houston’s first team roster have earned call-ups for this month's FIFA international window. McGlynn was called up to join the U.S. Men’s National Team for the 2024-25 Concacaf Nations League Finals in Los Angeles. Midfielder Brooklyn Raines was called up to join the U-20 U.S. Men’s National Team for training camp in L’Albir, Spain, where they will face Mexico and Japan. Midfielder Sebastian Rodriguez will represent the U-18 Mexican National Team during their three friendlies in France.
The Sounders currently sit 10th on the Western Conference standings with four points through four matches and are coming off a 1-0 road loss versus St. Louis CITY SC, with St. Louis midfielder Eduard Löwen scoring the lone goal at Energizer Park. Earlier that week, the Sounders were bounced out of the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup in the Round of 16 after falling 4-1 on aggregate to Liga MX side Cruz Azul.
Saturday’s fixture will feature a rematch of last season’s Audi 2024 MLS Cup Playoffs Round One Best-of-3 Series, where both teams played to draws in the first two matches. However, Houston fell on tight penalty shootouts (5-4 and 7-6) in both matches to see their season come to an end.
The Dynamo have a Sounders legend on their roster in midfielder Nico Lodeiro, who played a pivotal role in Seattle’s success over the past decade, winning three trophies, including the MLS Cup in 2016 and 2019, as well as the Concacaf Champions League in 2022. Houston signed the Uruguayan international in February, and he has since appeared in four matches (two starts), scoring his first goal in orange versus Inter Miami CF on March 2.
The Dynamo next travel to face the Portland Timbers on Sunday, March 30, before returning to Shell Energy Stadium to host LAFC on Saturday, April 5. Tickets for all Houston Dynamo home matches are available HERE.
