HOUSTON (March 29, 2025) – Houston Dynamo FC return to the Pacific Northwest for their second Sunday Night Soccer match of the season, facing the Portland Timbers on Sunday, March 30, with kickoff scheduled for 6:00 p.m. CT at Providence Park. Fans can stream the match via MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
The Dynamo are undefeated in their last four regular season matches versus the Timbers, including three victories and goal totals of 11-3 in favor of Houston. The most recent result came in June last season, when the two sides played to a 2-2 draw at Providence Park that included a goal from midfielder Sebastian Kowalczyk.
Earlier this week, the Dynamo announced the signing of attacking midfielder **Ondřej Lingr** and defender **Pablo Ortiz**. Lingr, a regular with the Czech Republic National Team, will occupy a Designated Player spot and brings vast European experience with SK Slavia Prague, MFK Karviná, Feyenoord and MFK Karviná across top competitions, including the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League. Ortiz joins Houston on loan from FC DAC 1904 in Slovakia after the 24-year-old Colombian made 42 appearances across several top-level European clubs (FC Midtjylland, C.D. Mafra, FK Pardubice and FC DAC 1904) and began his career with one of South America’s biggest clubs, América de Cali.
Houston enters Sunday Night Soccer following an important road point in a scoreless draw at Seattle Sounders FC, where the Dynamo earned their second clean sheet of the season. Goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer and midfielder Júnior Urso both made their first Dynamo league starts, while goalkeeper Blake Gillingham made his Dynamo and MLS debut in replacement of an injured Maurer in the 67th minute. It marked the first time an MLS rookie has played in goal for the Dynamo since Nov. 3, 2021 (Kyle Morton). Defender Erik Sviatchenko also made his 50th MLS regular season appearance during the match. Additionally, midfielder Nico Lodeiro made his return to Seattle, as the Uruguayan international played a pivotal role in the Sounders’ success over the past decade, winning three trophies, including the MLS Cup in 2016 and 2019, as well as the Concacaf Champions League in 2022.
Portland heads into Sunday’s match following a 3-0 road victory over the Colorado Rapids last weekend at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park. The Timbers took the lead in first-half stoppage time with an own goal from Colorado before extending their lead with goals from Antony and Kevin Kelsy. Portland currently sits ninth in the Western Conference standings with seven points and a record of 2-2-1 (WLD).
Three players from Houston’s first team roster returned from international duty this week after representing their respective countries during this month’s FIFA international window. Midfielder Jack McGlynn was called up to join the U.S. Men’s National Team for the 2024-25 Concacaf Nations League Finals, where he made an appearance in the semifinal versus Panama. Midfielder Brooklyn Raines joined the U-20 U.S. Men’s National Team for training camp in L’Albir, Spain, where he featured in both matches versus Mexico (2-0 victory) and Japan (1-1 draw). Midfielder Sebastian Rodriguez represented the U-18 Mexican National Team in France, where they secured a 2-0 win versus Bouches-du-Rhône, a scoreless draw with OGC Nice and a 1-1 draw with Olympique de Marseille in friendly matches.
Houston returns to Shell Energy Stadium on Saturday, April 5 to host LAFC, with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT. Tickets for the match and all Dynamo home matches are available HERE.
