FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Adam Moffat’s second goal of the game sent the Houston Dynamo to a 2-1 win over the New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium on Saturday.
Moffat sent the Dynamo to their second straight win when he fired a shot from outside the box that smacked the post before it deflected off goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth’s back and trickled into the net in the 80th minute.
Moffat’s first goal came when he volleyed a miscleared header from 25-yards in the 49th minute. Saer Sene scored in his second straight game when pushed a point-blank effort past Tally Hall in the 55th minute.

Dimitry Imbongo’s 82nd-minute red card left the Revolution shorthanded for the remainder of the match, and effectively ended their hopes at pulling even late.
The win strengthened Dynamo’s hold over the fifth and final playoff spot, while the Revolution, who lost at home for the first time since May 8, squandered their chance to launch themselves into the postseason race.
Houston became the first opponent to score at Gillette Stadium since May 11 when Andrew Driver sent a corner kick into the mix, where it was headed away by Chad Barrett. But Barrett’s header fell to Moffat, who immediately volleyed past the dive of Shuttleworth.
The hosts wasted no time filing their response when Diego Fagundez raced into the box, and found Sene on the doorstep. Although the French striker’s initial effort was stopped by Hall, Sene tapped it through on his second chance.
A number of opportunities to find the go-ahead goal appeared in the wake of Sene’s strike for the hosts.
Fagundez nearly set the stage for a second Revolution goal when he ran toward goal and played it central to Imbongo, whose subsequent shot went wide of the far post.
Two minutes later, the Dynamo made their push to for three points when Jermaine Taylor played a cross to Giles Barnes, whose header bounced wide of the post.
The Revolution (6-6-6, 24 points) will look to extend their unbeaten run on the road when they play the Colorado Rapids at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on Wednesday at 7pm local time. The Dynamo (8-6-5, 29 points) return to league action in two weeks when they host the Chicago Fire at 8pm local time on July 27 at BBVA Compass Stadium.
