THE RESULT:

• Improved the Dynamo’s all-time playoff record to 16-8-6.
• Improved the Dynamo’s all-time record in Conference Semifinal matches to 7-5-3.
• Gave the Dynamo a 0-0-1 record in postseason play against the Portland Timbers.
• Extended the Dynamo’s unbeaten streak to eight games, including regular-season play, dating back to September 23 at New York City FC.Extended Houston’s shutout streak to 447 consecutive minutes played without conceding a goal.

TEAM NOTES:

• Video Review was implemented for the first time in Audi MLS Cup Playoffs history. In the 31st minute, Timbers DF Larrys Mabiala made a slide tackle to prevent FW Alberth Elis from creating a scoring opportunity. After the tackle, referee Robert Sibiga pointed for a penalty kick, but moments later Sibiga signaled that he would review the play. Upon review, the penalty awarded to the Dynamo was overturned as it was determined that no foul was committed.
• The Dynamo played their 30th all-time postseason game.
• The Dynamo were tied at halftime for the 13th time this year. Houston is now 2-4-5 this year when tied at intermission.
• The Dynamo were even on shots with the Timbers, 9-9. It marked only the third time this year that the Dynamo were even on shots with their opponent, and they are now 0-1-2 in those games. This was the second time this season the Dynamo and the Timbers were even on shots, the first time was a 2-2 draw on July 29. The other time was a 1-0- loss against San Jose Earthquakes on September 16.
• The Dynamo controlled the majority of possession in the game, holding the ball for 53.2 percent of the night. It was the seventh time this year that the Dynamo had more possession than their opponent, and they are now 0-5-2 in those games.
• The Dynamo used their 34th different starting lineup in 36 MLS matches this year, including regular season and postseason.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES:

• GK Tyler Deric kept his second clean sheet in the postseason and his fourth in as many games. Deric has eight shutouts this season across all competitions.
• Deric extended his shutout streak to 447 consecutive minutes across all competitions. 
• Deric started his second playoff game this evening.
• MF Alex made his third postseason appearance when he came for FW Romell Quioto in the 71st minute.
• MF Eric Alexander made his 11th appearance and seventh start in the postseason.
• Alexander led the team in passing accuracy with a total of 92.3 percent, completing 39 of his 42 pass attempts.
• DF Jalil Anibaba made his fourth career appearance and second start in the postseason, and his first playoff start with the Dynamo.
• Anibaba returned to the Starting XI for the first time since August 23 at FC Dallas.
• DF DaMarcus Beasley made his 19th career appearance and 18th career start in postseason play.
• Beasley made his second postseason appearance and start as a Dynamo player.
• Beasley led the team with four tackles on the night.
• MF Juan David Cabezas started his second career playoff game this evening.
• Cabezas led the team in passes with a total of 53.
• FW Alberth Elis started his second consecutive playoff game this evening.
• DF Adolfo Machado made his second start in the postseason tonight.
• FW Mauro Manotas made his playoff debut tonight.
• MF Tomás Martinez made his second playoff start tonight.
• FW Romell Quioto made his first career start in post season play and his second career appearance in postseason.
• FW Vicente Sánchez made his third appearance in postseason play when he came into tonight’s game for MF Tomás Martínez in the 61st minute.
• DF Philippe Senderos started back-to-back games for the first time this year.
• FW Erick Torres made his second appearance in postseason play when he came into tonight’s game for FW Mauro Manotas in the 77th minute.
