On Houston’s 1-1 draw with Sporting Kansas City…
That was one of the better games we’ve played in Kansas City. We’ve obviously had better results here, but in the end that was one of the best performances here that we’ve seen. The way we went about it was a complete team effort.

We had some guys in different positions, but everyone came together. It shouldn’t surprise anyone that just because we don’t have everyone available in the lineup that we’re going to change the way we play. I think the guys that came in played excellent, and that depth and team mentality is why we’re one of the better teams in the league.
On his save in the 75th minute following Kei Kamara’s header on goal…
It was a pretty good ball in (from Graham Zusi), and it was a really good header (from Kei Kamara). As a keeper, you just try to put yourself in a good spot and make the play. The team expects me to do that, so it was nothing spectacular.
On Houston losing himself, Corey Ashe and Brad Davis to USMNT duty…
It’s kind of funny when you look back at the times when this team in its history has really come together. It hasn’t been when we’ve had all the players available. It’s usually when we need guys to step up. In those moments, when your backs are against the wall, you figure out how good of a season you’ll have. We’ve been in this position before and guys have stepped up. We also know that other teams are missing guys to injuries and international duty. Yeah, we’re getting hit a little harder than most, but that’s something we can handle. This team’s success speaks for itself.
On his thoughts of the upcoming U.S. Open Cup…
It’s the oldest U.S. trophy that soccer has. There may be different guys in our lineup, but it’s still a very important tournament for us. It maybe isn’t a top priority, but it’s a tournament we haven’t had a lot of success in recently. So we’ll definitely go into it with the intention of winning the whole thing.

On the head official overturning what was initially ruled a penalty kick to Houston in the 38th minute…
The fourth official thought it wasn’t a foul. After they talked it over, the ref made the change. To be honest, it ended the way it should have. Unfortunately for us, I think they got the call right. I thought (Oriol Rosell) got all ball.
On his goal just before halftime…
The ball went up to Will (Bruin) and he brought it down really well. I was just trying to make a late run off him. He turned his guy and slipped the ball in to me, and I saw Jimmy (Nielsen) start to come out. He didn’t think I was going to be able to touch it, but I managed to get the touch and slot it home.

We would have loved to get all three points. We had plenty of chances to score more goals. They had some chances, too. We wanted a win after the two previous losses, but to play at Kansas City and get a draw, you can’t feel too bad. After last week’s game against New England, we wanted to come here and get back to the ways we’re used to playing. We came out ready to play and put together a good performance. I’m a little disappointed we didn’t get more from it, but also happy at the way we played.

I didn’t know that stat to be totally honest. But I do like playing here in Kansas City. I’m from St. Louis, so I have a huge family contingency here. It’s always fun to play in front of your friends and family. We’ve had some pretty good success in this building. It’s a great stadium and the whole team loves coming here.
