The first day of the second round of Generation Adidas Cup Central Region qualifying matches took place at Houston Sports Park on Friday evening. Group leaders Toronto FC and FC Dallas took care of business to set up a showdown of undefeateds on Saturday afternoon, while Columbus Crew SC picked up their first win.

FC Dallas 6, Chicago Fire 0

FC Dallas continued their romp through GA Cup qualifying with an easy result over the Chicago Fire in the rain-delayed opening match of the weekend. Left back Alex Bautista started the scoring, getting into the box and finishing with his left foot, and minutes later Brayan Padilla doubled the lead with a free kick from the left side. Adrian Munoz played a ball behind the defense for first team signing Bryan Reynolds to latch onto and finish to make it 3-0 at the break.

Dallas didn't put on the breaks in the second half, with Padilla grabbing his second of the match early on. FCD subbed on Jesus Ferreira, another first team signing, and he scored a free kick goal just moments later. Pablo Arias finished the rout, sliding onto a cross from Jorge Almaguer.

Toronto FC 4, Sporting Kansas City 2

Toronto FC also came out of the gates firing, scoring four in the first half, but a late rally from Sporting Kansas City made for nervous moments at the end. Kunle Dada-Luke surged past the Sporting backline barely five minutes in and finished with his left foot. Inside 10 minutes, Jordan Faria connected on a cross from Luca Petrasso to make it 2-0. Petrasso got his own not much later, finishing off an assist from Tom Akinola — who scored his own goal to close the half, heading in a lofted ball from Terique Mohammed.

TFC nearly made it 5-0 in the second half with a shot off the crossbar, but Sporting Kansas City showed determination to grab two goals late on to make things interesting. With less than 10 minutes to play, Sean Karani found Ryan Fessler with an outside-of-the-boot pass for Fessler to hit first time into the back of the net. In stoppage time, Gianluca Busio headed in their second goal courtesy of a cross from Max Rugova, but it wasn't enough to complete the comeback.

Columbus Crew SC 3, Houston Dynamo 0

Columbus Crew SC and the Houston Dynamo played to a stalemate for much of the nightcap, but a burst of goals from the visitors gave them three points in the end. Crew SC opened on the front foot in the first half, forcing saves from goalkeeper Osmar Chavero and clearances from goal line scrambles, but were unable to convert on any chances.

Maxwell Thesing gave Columbus the lead in the second half, making a nice solo run down the left side to score at the near post. Colin Biros provided the second goal, collected a rebounded shot and finishing from six yards out. Maouloune Goumballe put on the finishing touch, dribbling across the top of the box before finding the bottom corner from distance.
