Dynamo goalkeeper Tally Hall and midfielder/defender Ricardo Clark were named to the Major League Soccer Team of the Week for Week 27 on Tuesday.
Hall earned his 11th clean sheet of the season in a 1-0 win over Real Salt Lake on Thursday. In the process, Hall tied Pat Onstad’s franchise record for shutouts in a season. Hall made three vital saves – including one nominated for the MLS Save of the Week with his stop of a header from Nat Borchers – on the night of great goalkeeping between Hall and RSL’s Nick Rimando. Hall has six remaining regular season games to surpass his former teammate’s mark.
Clark, a player who has earned MLS Best XI honors and made 34 appearances for the U.S. men’s national team, primarily as a central midfielder, showcased his versatility with a tremendous effort at center back in Houston’s win over Real Salt Lake. Clark showed veteran leadership and extinguished several RSL chances with stout, calm defending in the Dynamo penalty area.
Dynamo defender Bobby Boswell earned Honorable Mention honors after playing 74 minutes despite a stomach virus and helping a short-handed Dynamo side on a night they were missing four players to international duty and several more to injury and illness.
Here is what the editors of MLSSoccer.com had to say about the Dynamo standouts:
GK: Tally Hall (Houston Dynamo) –Not terribly busy until the end of Houston’s 1-0 win over RSL, when he made two huge stops to preserve a vital clean sheet for the Dynamo.
DF: Ricardo Clark (Houston Dynamo) –Filled in superbly at center back for the Dynamo, nullifying the threat of Fabián Espíndola including a goal-saving tackle in the first half.
