The Texas Derby is the rivalry between Houston Dynamo FC and FC Dallas, both playing to be the dominant club in the Lone Star State. The Houston Dynamo are a two-time MLS Cup Champion, being the only team in Texas to have lifted the trophy. The two squads play a series of games with the winner of the season long series taking home an 18th-century mountain howitzer cannon named El Capitán. The winner is determined by whichever team earns the most points from MLS regular season head-to-head matches.
The Dynamo have won El Capitán eight times in the seires. This Saturday, the state of Texas' biggest player signing of all time, Hector Herrera, is set to make his MLS debut against the team from Frisco, hoping to give Houston the edge in the all-time series.
