During a two-week hiatus from MLS play, the Dynamo have stayed relatively unchanged in the Week 15 power rankings. It was a welcome break for the team suffering from persistent injuries to players Omar Cummings and Jermaine Taylor.
Even with that break, MLSSoccer.com dropped the Dynamo one spot from last week and the team now sits at No. 10. According to MLSsoccer.com’s Matt Doyle:
Given the injuries to Omar Cummings – is he ever going to fully recover? – and Calen Carr, the Dynamo might be the contenders ripest for a midseason DP addition. Sylvan Ebanks-Blake would be a nice fit, wouldn't he?
On ESPN.com, senior writer Jeff Carlisle kept the Dynamo in their same position at No. 11 in his rankings. Carlisle wrote:
With Frank Yallop leaving San Jose, Houston president Chris Canetti will want to put Dominic Kinnear in a safe house. But if Kinnear wants to return to the Bay Area, can Canetti stop him?
With the highest of the three power rankings, SI.com’s Avi Creditor keeps the Dynamo in the No. 6 spot. According to Creditor:
The wounded Dynamo have had some time off to recuperate, but the club embarks on a three-game, 10-day adventure starting Wednesday with an intriguing U.S. Open Cup bout against Texas rival FC Dallas. There is never a shortage of fireworks when the two sides clash, and because they only play once a season in league play nowadays, this extra match – one with a place in the competition quarterfinals on the line – is an added bonus for MLS fans.
In their next match, the Dynamo expect to have center back Jermaine Taylor return after injuring his left shoulder in the 2-0 defeat against the New England Revolution on May 18. Bobby Boswell will also be returning from his two game suspension after head-butting New England Revolution forward Dimitry Imbongo.
The Dynamo resume MLS play on Wednesday, June 19 at 7 p.m. when they travel to take on the Eastern Conference leader Montreal Impact.
