With the latest round of FIFA 2022 World Cup Qualifying matches coming up this week, it’s a good time to check on the various Dynamo players that have been called upon to play for their respective national teams.
Midfielder Darwin Cerén was named to the El Salvador national team and will be with the team for their three games in this window. During the most recent qualifying window, Cerén appeared in all three games for La Selecta. The team will kick off this window at home against Panama on Thursday, Oct. 7 at 9:05 pm. The match can be streamed on Paramount+, UNIVERSO, and Centro America TV.
The Honduran national team features the largest Dynamo contingent, as both midfielder Boniek García and defender Maynor Figueroa are longtime fixtures for Honduras. Both rank in the top five in all-time appearances with Los Catrachos, with Figueroa as the all-time leader with 173. In this window, Honduras squares off against Costa Rica, Mexico and Jamaica. The team’s first match comes at home against Costa Rica on Oct. 7 at 7:05 pm and is available on Paramount+, Centro America TV, UNIVERSO.
The final member of the Dynamo who will be participating in the upcoming window is also the only one who will not be playing under the CONCACAF umbrella. Defender Teenage Hadebe, who Houston acquired this summer as a Designated Player and who leads the team in clearances and recoveries since his debut, will suit up for Zimbabwe in a pair of AFCON World Cup qualifying matches against Ghana. The first match is on Saturday, Oct. 9 at 11 am. Fans who want to tune into the match can watch on ESPN+.
