The Houston Dynamo announced today they have re-signed forward Dominic Oduro. Per team and league policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed. Oduro is expected to report to Dynamo training on Thursday.
The 25-year-old, a native of Ghana, joined Houston in a 2009 trade and started during the club’s run to the Western Conference championship game. Oduro has totaled six goals and eight assists in 43 regular season games for the Dynamo over the last two seasons.
He tied for the club scoring lead in all competitions in 2010 with seven goals and five assists, netting five MLS goals and striking once each in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and SuperLiga. He also scored in each of Houston’s two friendly matches. Holder of a United States green card, Oduro will occupy a domestic roster slot.
Oduro graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University and then spent his first three MLS season with FC Dallas from 2006-08. He began the 2009 season with New York before being traded to Houston. He has been active in the league’s Nothing But Nets campaign to fight malaria.
The Dynamo’s 2011 MLS regular season opener is set for Saturday, March 19, at 7:30 p.m. against the Philadelphia Union at Robertson Stadium. Tickets are available at HoustonDynamo.com.
