Houston Dynamo acquire Joe Willis, Samuel Inkoom from D.C. United in exchange for midfielder Andrew Driver

The Houston Dynamo have acquired the rights to goalkeeper Joe Willis and defender Samuel Inkoom from D.C. United in exchange for midfielder Andrew Driver and a fourth-round pick in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft.


Willis, 26, appeared in 23 games over the last four seasons with D.C. United. The St. Louis native appeared in four U.S. Open Cup matches in 2013 as D.C. United won the cup with a road win over Real Salt Lake. The University of Denver product appeared in three CONCACAF Champions League games this season.


Inkoom, 25, joined D.C. United in September and appeared in two regular-season games. The Ghanaian defender appeared in two games at the 2010 World Cup, including a knockout round win over the United States. Inkoom has 46 caps for the Black Stars and previously played with FC Basel, FC Dnipro (Ukraine), SC Bastia (France) and Platanias F.C. (Greece).


Driver, 27, joined the Dynamo on loan from Heart of Midlothian before the 2013 season. The midfielder appeared in 60 regular-season games (42 starts) and tallied three goals and two assists in two seasons with Houston. The England native appeared in all 34 games this season.
