Houston Dynamo Football Club and Kroger announced an extension of their longstanding partnership today, along with an expansion of the relationship to include the Houston Dash in addition to Houston Dynamo FC.
Kroger has been the Official Retail Grocery Partner of the Houston Dynamo since 2012 and will now have the same designation on a Club-wide basis going forward.
“We are thrilled to grow our partnership with Kroger to now include the Dash alongside the Dynamo,” said Houston Dynamo FC President
John Walker. “Kroger shares many of our values, most importantly our commitment to providing meaningful support to the community that supports us. They have been one of our Club’s strongest partners for nearly a decade and we look forward to building on that foundation in the years to come.”
At soccer matches all over the world, supportersrise in anticipation when their team is awarded a corner kick, hoping to see the ball hammered into the back of the net. Dynamo fans will now have another reason to get excited for corner kicks, thanks to the
Kroger Corner Kicks for Kids program. For every corner kick awarded to the Dynamo this season, Kroger will donate $50 to Kids Meals Houston to help feed children in the Greater Houston area.
In keeping with Kroger’s purpose, “
To Feed the Human Spirit,” and the Club’s commitment to leadership through action, the two organizations joined forces on Sunday afternoonto pack nearly 20,000 meals for Kids Meals. Kids Meals feeds nearly 5,000 children throughout the Greater Houston area each day, and prior to the COVID-19 pandemic served more than 1.1 million meals in 2019.
“Kroger has been a partner of the Houston Dynamo Football Club for several years, and being able to expand upon that partnership is something we are excited about,” said Joe Kelley, Houston Division President. “One of the key components of our partnership is community support, specifically food insecurity – an important issue that Kroger and the Dynamo and Dash teams are passionate about. Our latest program,
Kroger Corner Kids for Kids will allow us to give back to another one of our long-time community partners – Kids Meals, through our commitment to Zero Hunger.”
Kroger and the Club will also honor the everyday stars in our community through the
Kroger Community Champs program. The online campaign will provide Houstonians a chance to recognizethe men and women in their neighborhoods who go out of their way to lift up the community around them. Honorees will be recognized on Houston Dynamo FC’s social media channels and on the pitch at select Dynamo home matches throughout the season.
Additionally, Kroger customers will have the opportunity to score free Dynamo and Dash tickets and other merchandise during Kroger’s annual
Summer of Soccer promotion. Throughout the summer – traditionally the busiest part of both teams’ seasons –Kroger will offer special deals on select products, giving customers a chance to win prizes such as Dynamo or Dash gear or tickets to a match.
Finally, to share in the ‘team spirit,’ Kroger employees will wear special cobranded Dynamo and Dash shirts on Soccer Saturdays throughout the Dynamo and Dash season at Houston-area Kroger stores, adding a splash of orange to store’s iconic blue-and-white color palette.
