Houston Dynamo 2 Open Road Trip with Victory over Minnesota

BLAINE, Minn. (June 30, 2024) – Houston Dynamo 2 opened a two-game road trip with a 3-1 victory on the road over Minnesota United FC 2. With the victory, Dynamo 2 improves their record against Minnesota United FC 2 to 4-0-2 (WLD).

Houston took the lead in the 10th minute after Mattheo Dimareli played the ball to forward Ousmane Sylla at the edge of the box. The Mac Hermann Trophy winner found the inside of the far post for his fourth goal of the season.

Dynamo 2 doubled their lead in the 51st minute following a turnover near midfield. Captain Diego Gonzalez found Stephen Annor inside the box for his third goal of the season.

Minnesota found the back of the net after the Dynamo 2 backline attempted to clear a cross, but the deflection fell to Aidan Martinez at the near post.

Houston secured three points in the 83rd minute after Sebastian Rodriguez found Isaiah Reid inside the box. The Clemson University forward created space for a shot from a tight angle that found the inside of the far post.

Dynamo 2 goalkeeper Xavier Valdez was well positioned to deny Britton Fischer in the eighth minute. The rebound fell to Jordan Adebayo-Smith inside the box, but Dynamo Academy alum Kieran Sargeant blocked the shot.

Valdez was called into action again in the 14th minute to deny Alisa Randell at the near post. Valdez finished with four saves against Minnesota tonight.

Dimareli nearly found the back of the net in the 25th minute off a cross to the near post, but his effort skipped out of play at the opposite end. The Dynamo Academy player found space behind the Minnesota backline three minutes later after he dribbled past a defender near the endline, but his shot went wide of the near post.

Gonzlez forced a save in the 63rd minute following a curling shot toward the far post. The Dynamo Academy alum led the team with five chances created against Minnesota.

Dynamo 2 travel to Southern California on Friday, July 5 to close this two-game road trip. The team returns to SaberCats Stadium on July 11 to host Austin FC II. Tickets for that match, and all Dynamo 2 games at SaberCats Stadium are free and available HERE.
