Like many other Dynamo365 Members, Dylan Wolpers has been an engaged fan of Houston Dynamo FC since the relocation from San Jose was announced.
However, Wolpers has a unique connection not only to the Dynamo, but to this week’s particular matchup versus Minnesota United FC. To learn more about why some call it the Dylan Wolpers Derby thanks to a technical difficulty that gave way to history, check out this link.
Wolpers said at first, he has attended matches with his father, who was an original season ticket member during the inaugural 2006 season. Once his father moved away from Houston in 2018, Wolpers decided to purchase season tickets of his own.
“The energy and atmosphere in the stadium are absolutely amazing,” Wolpers said of why new fans should attend Dynamo matches at Shell Energy Stadium. “Seeing the supporters section pour in with the drums and trumpets blaring is a great scene.”
When it comes to a favorite memory, Wolpers thought back to when the Dynamo won the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in 2018, the club’s third domestic championship and first since the back-to-back MLS Cup titles in 2006 and 2007.
“In particular, seeing DaMarcus Beasley lift that trophy in Houston was special,” Wolpers, a lifelong Houstonian, said of the veteran United States international.
Wolpers said one of his favorite benefits as a season ticket member is the end-of-season fire sale hosted by Dynamo and Dash Charities.
“I look forward to it every year,” he said. “There are always some real gems you can find, and the money all goes back to the local community.”
Additionally, with all of the recent theme nights at Shell Energy Stadium, including 713 Night, Kids, AAPI, Pride, Juneteenth, Hispanic Heritage, Americana and Alumni Weekend, Wolpers was eager to suggest another idea for consideration.
“Bring your dog to the stadium night!” he said.
Dylan Wolpers will be honored as SeatGeek’s Member of the Match during Wednesday’s matchup as Houston Dynamo FC host Minnesota United FC at Shell Energy Stadium.
