Houston Dynamo midfielder Boniek García and forward Alberth Elis and Romell Quioto have been named to the Honduras national team's final 23-man roster for the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
Elis and Quioto have already joined Los Catrachos in their preparations, while García was with the Dynamo for their Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup loss to Sporting Kansas City on Wednesday and will join Honduras at a later date.
Honduras begins their quest for the regional championship on Friday, June 7 against Costa Rica at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey (8:30 p.m. CT | FS2, UniMás). The Group A games come to Houston on July 11 with a doubleheader at BBVA Compass Stadium (TICKETS), with Honduras taking on French Guiana in the second match of the night (9 p.m. CT | FS1, UniMás). The group stage closes as Honduras faces Canada in Frisco, Texas, on July 14 (9 p.m. CT).
All three players have been heavily involved in Honduras' World Cup qualifying campaign, with Elis and Quioto creating both goals in a 2-1 win over Panama in their most recent match. No other Dynamo players were selected for the group stage of the Gold Cup. Teams are permitted to amend their 23-player roster following the group stage, by replacing up to six players with new players from the 40-player provisional rosters announced on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 – which included the Dynamo's Adolfo Machado (Panama) and Erick Torres (Mexico).
