On Thursday, June 15, Houston Dynamo FC and Houston Dash partnered with Texas Southern University to host a Juneteenth Soccer Clinic at Houston Sports Park for young boys and girls from The Forge for Families.
The Forge for Families is an organization that aims to help families achieve their potential. Their programs provide platforms to build relationships, inspire, teach, encourage, empower and grow with the families they serve. The organization is based out of the Third Ward, a neighborhood in Houston with a predominately African American community and a rich historical and cultural legacy.
Five student athletes from the TSU Women’s Soccer program, along with Houston Dynamo FC youth coaches worked together to educate and coach 100 participants in a clinic which focused on ball mastery, technical executions and rudimentary soccer terms.
The 90-minute session was followed by an autograph session by two predominate professional athletes within the organization. Participants got signed player cards from Houston Dynamo FC midfielder Brooklyn Raines as well as Houston Dash forward Nichelle Prince. Houston Dynamo FC and the Dash urged the young group of future leaders to keep giving their best effort in everything they set their minds to.
