An era of U.S. Soccer is coming to an end, as DaMarcus Beasley announced his retirement from the international stage on his Instagram page today.
A member of the inaugural U.S. Soccer residency program in 1999 along with the likes of Landon Donovan, Oguchi Onyewu and Kyle Beckerman, Beasley made his senior team debut on January 27, 2001 in a friendly against China.
A year later in 2002, he appeared in his first FIFA World Cup, appearing in all three of the United States’ group matches. He then made appearances in the 2006, 2010 and 2014 editions of the tournament, becoming the first American to appear in four different World Cups.
Beasley, 32, finishes his USMNT career with 121 caps (5th all time), 17 goals (T-9th all time), 13 assists (8th all time) and was part of four CONCACAF Gold Cup-winning teams while making an appearance in 14 consecutive years.
