The Houston Dynamo enter Friday’s Major League Soccer SuperDraft presented by adidas with the fourth overall selection and four total picks in the league’s annual amateur player draft.
The first two rounds of the SuperDraft will take place Friday at the Los Angeles Convention Center, with Round 1 starting at 2 p.m. CST. The SuperDraft will be broadcast live on a web stream and may be viewed on MLSsoccer.com.
The fourth overall pick is the highest selection that the Dynamo have held in club history. Previously, the highest pick the Dynamo have held in the SuperDraft was the seventh overall pick in the 2011 SuperDraft. The club selected defender Kofi Sarkodie out of Akron with that pick, and Sarkodie went on to play in 98 league games with 94 starts for the club over five years, including seven starts in his rookie season.
In addition to the fourth pick, the Dynamo hold the eighth and 14th picks in the second round (No. 30 and 36 overall) and the fourth pick in the Round 4 (No. 70 overall). Rounds 3 and 4 of the SuperDraft will take place via conference call on Tuesday, January 17 beginning at 1 p.m. CST.
