The Houston Dynamo selected forward Colin Rolfe in the first round of the 2012 MLS SuperDraft this afternoon at the Kansas City Convention Center. The Dynamo then selected University of Central Florida midfielder Warren Creavalle with the No. 37 overall selection in the second round.

Rolfe, a two-time All-Big East Conference First Team selection, scored 33 goals and added 21 assists in 87 career collegiate appearances. In 2010, Rolfe was named a M.A.C. Hermann Trophy finalist after leading the Cardinals to a Big East conference championship and the College Cup final. Rolfe finished his collegiate career third in school history in goals and points, and was named to the NSCAA All-American First Team in 2009 and 2010.

“Colin Rolfe was a player we liked heading into the draft,” head coach Dominic Kinnear said. “He also fills what we considered a position of need. With regard to Warren, I thought he had a very good combine. I look forward to seeing him in camp and seeing him with the guys.”

Creavalle, a two-time All-Conference USA First Team selection, scored five goals in two seasons at the University of Central Florida. Creavalle began his collegiate career at Furman University and played 36 games over two seasons before transferring to UCF. The 21-year-old from Acworth, Ga., was named an NSCAA third-team all-American in 2010 after scoring four goals with assists.
