Houston Dynamo midfielder Tomás Martínez earned his place in the MLS Team of the Week for Week 7, presented Audi, after his sterling performance in a 2-1 win over the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday.
Martínez nearly started the scoring just past the half-hour mark as he danced past defenders to get into the box and earn a penalty, but it wasn't converted. He did the work himself in the second half as a cross fell to him and he curled a left-footed shot into the net for the game-winning goal. The midfielder also completed 93% of his passes on the day. This is the first Team of the Week appearance for Martínez.
