HOUSTON (April 27, 2025) – Houston Dynamo 2 close the week with a 2-1 victory over in-state rivals Austin FC II in tonight's Texas Showdown at SaberCats Stadium behind goals from forward Exon Arzú and academy midfielder Enrique Correa. Notably, the result allowed Houston to wrap up April on a high note, completing a perfect three-win streak for the month.

Dynamo Dos took the lead in the 23rd minute when defender Felipe Andrade found Arzú in the box for his third goal of the season. The play began with a corner kick delivery from Dynamo 2 captain and midfielder Diego Gonzalez that was punched away by Stefan Cleveland, causing it to bounce around Austin’s backline. Andrade then retreated the ball with a pass to Arzú, who finished with a header.

Correa doubled Houston’s lead in the 77th minute after the Academy product capitalized on an Austin error by intercepting a pass and finding the bottom left corner for his second goal of the year.

Austin II got one back in the second half of stoppage time when Rubén Bonachera found the back of the net from the penalty spot after defender Micah Harris was deemed to have fouled an Austin player inside the box.

Arzú had Houston’s first shot on goal in the 18th minute with a right-footed shot that forced Cleveland to get low and make the save.

Goalkeeper Pedro Cruz was called into action in the 31st minute when Ervin Torres Jr. fired a direct free kick towards the near post, forcing the Brazilian goalkeeper to dive left and block the shot. Cruz made five saves on the night.

Forward David Garcia took his chances from deep in the 48th minute with a right-footed strike that missed the left side of the goal by inches.

Cruz was called into action again in the 61st minute when Torres Jr. received a ball inside the box for a header, but the young keeper was able to get low and quell the danger.

Andrade fired a dangerous shot in the 76th minute from outside the box that found the hands of the visiting goalkeeper.

Dynamo 2 next visit St. Louis CITY 2 on Sunday, May 4, with kickoff scheduled for 4:00 p.m. CT. Fans can tune in to the live action via MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
