The Houston Dynamo put three representatives on MLS’s Team of the Week for Week 13, presented by Audi. Goalscorers Alejandro Fuenmayor and Alberth Elis earned the weekly honors, along with head coach Wilmer Cabrera.
Fuenmayor made the list for the first time this season. The 21-year-old Venezuelan scored the opening goal with a header on a set piece – his second of the year – and helped hold one of the league’s highest scoring offenses to a single goal in the 3-1 win over New York City FC.
Elis earned weekly best XI honors for the second consecutive week and the fourth time in 2018. Double-team defending on the right wing from NYCFC couldn’t stop the MLS All-Star Fan XI nominee on Friday night, as he claimed his seventh goal of the season to seal the victory on Friday night.
Cabrera was named coach of the week for the second time this season after leading the Dynamo to a convincing home victory over a team that entered the weekend second in the Supporters’ Shield standings. He previously earned the accolade in Week 1, after the Dynamo defeated current league leaders Atlanta United FC 4-0 at home.
