Dynamo midfielder Brad Davis has been named the MLS W.O.R.K.S. Humanitarian of the Month for August, it was announced today. Davis’ selection is due to his contributions to the Texas Chapter of Paralyzed Veterans of America (TCPVA) through his Brad’s Brigade campaign. MLS W.O.R.K.S. will make a $1,500 donation to the TCPVA on behalf of Davis for his work in the community.

Brad’s Brigade, presented by the U.S. Marines Corps, is an annual initiative that provides Dynamo fans and the Houston community the opportunity to join Davis in honoring members of the armed forces. As part of the campaign, Houston fans and corporate partners donated tickets to send military personnel and their families to the July 3 match vs. the Chicago Fire. More than 1,500 tickets were donated for the campaign this year.

In addition to the ticket donation, Dynamo Charities raised $15,000 for TCPVA, an organization dedicated to helping seriously wounded military veterans. In honor of the campaign, the City of Houston declared July 3 as “Houston Dynamo Military Appreciation Day.”

Since 2006, Davis has brought military personnel and their families to Dynamo home matches. In 2007, the Dynamo launched Brad’s Brigade, enabling fans the opportunity to assist with this endeavor.

Sponsors of the Brad’s Brigade campaign include Dynamo Charities and BMC Software.

This is Davis’ first MLS W.O.R.K.S. Humanitarian of the Month honor and the second for the Dynamo in 2012. Geoff Cameron was honored in June after raising more than $30,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society through his 20 for 20 initiative. Davis was also named 2011 Dynamo Humanitarian of the Year.
