The Houston Dynamo will host Breast Cancer Awareness Night on Sunday, October 10, offering a special $20 ticket package that will benefit the Methodist Cancer Center. Dynamo Chief Operating Officer Chris Canetti, Dynamo defender Bobby Boswell, and Methodist Cancer Center co-director Dr. Edgardo Rivera made the announcement today.

“We are very lucky to have players who are also committed to our charitable causes and our community causes, and Bobby Boswell is a fine example of that,” Canetti said. “This is another opportunity for us to give back to the community and for our fans to give back to the community.”

The special $20 ticket offer for the Oct. 10 match against the New England Revolution includes a ticket, a pink commemorative T-shirt, and a field pass to be part of a human pink ribbon formed on the field. Fans will also get to meet Boswell after the game. Tickets are available at HoustonDynamo.com/BreastCancer.

“The guys are always giving me a hard time in the locker room about being involved in breast cancer, but it’s very serious,” Boswell said. “Women are very important to everyone, whether it be a mother, wife, or daughter. It’s the number two killer of women, and that’s terrible, and we’re going to try to raise some money and put it toward research so we can end all this.”

The Sunday night match is presented by the Methodist Hospital System, and the first 5,000 fans will receive pink Dynamo hats, courtesy of Methodist.

“As a breast oncologist, it used to be pink was my favorite color, but now it’s pink and orange, so thank you to the Dynamo for doing this,” Dr. Rivera said. “It’s in collaboration with this type of partnership that we can actually make changes in the fight against breast cancer. Although we’ve made significant strides, it’s by working together to raise money and awareness that we’re really going to win the fight against breast cancer.”

As part of Major League Soccer’s support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, teams will play with a special edition of the Jabulani ball colored with pink accents. Three such gameballs will be raffled off on October 10, with raffle tickets available near the Oktoberfest area outside the stadium prior to the match.

The Dynamo’s October 10 match against New England at Robertson Stadium at 7:30 p.m. is their final night home game of the season. Discounted ticket offers are available at HoustonDynamo.com/tickets.
