Dynamo Charities and Kroger capped off the fourth annual Kroger Classroom Champs program on Tuesday afternoon by recognizing five Houston-area educators and awarding Hargrave High School teacher Cristina Sizemore a shopping spree with Houston Dynamo goalkeeper Joe Willis.

Sizemore and Willis teamed up to gather more than $10,000 worth of merchandise during a four-minute in-store shopping spree at the Kroger store at the Merchant’s Park Shopping Center in the Heights on Tuesday. In addition to the shopping spree, Sizemore and the four finalists were honored on the field at Sunday’s Dynamo home finale against Seattle Sounders FC, and each finalist was presented with a $250 Kroger gift card and a $250 grant to their school from Dynamo Charities.  Additionally, Dynamo President Chris Canetti announced on Tuesday that Dynamo Charities would match Kroger’s contributions to give the class of 2018 a total of $3,000 in donations.

Sizemore, a two-time Teacher of the Year at Hargrave, teaches foreign languages in Huffman, Texas and was nominated by one of her students.

“Mrs. Sizemore has been one of the greatest impacts on my life. She always radiates positivity,” the student wrote in the nomination. “She goes above and beyond to make sure that they are successful not just in school but in life as well.”

The other finalists included Brittany Boyd from Lakeland Elementary (Humble ISD), Laura Esparza from Thomas Elementary (Lamar Consolidated ISD),  Carlos Quintero from Sharpstown High School (Houston ISD) and Norma Shahreza from Chambers Elementary (Alief ISD).
