With only one game left in the Dynamo's penultimate season in Robertson Stadium, the Dynamo are partnering with the greater East End community to bring out residents and business owners to Saturday's match against the Seattle Sounders. Those in attendance will have the opportunity to hear from Dynamo head coach Dominic Kinnear and Chief Operating Officer Chris Canetti about the Dynamo's new stadium project and the impact the development will have on their community.
"The East End community is very important to not only the present, but the future of the Dynamo," Canetti said. "With the location of the new stadium, we want to give residents and business owners the opportunity to be a part of the process from Day 1."
The postgame event will be held in the Aztec Events & Tents VIP Tent at Robertson Stadium, in conjunction with the Greater East End Management District (GEEMD), EaDo, the Houston Chamber of Commerce, and Councilman James Rodriguez.
“The Dynamo are already establishing themselves as a good neighbor in East Downtown," said Councilman Rodriguez. "They remain committed to working with my constituents to promote and improve the quality of life for Greater East End residents.”
Ahead of Saturday's contest, the Dynamo will take part in a graffiti clean-up event on Polk Street in east downtown Houston on Wednesday. With the use of GEEMD's Graffiti Mobile, Canetti and Dynamo defender Bobby Boswell will partner with Councilman Rodriguez and a representative from Harris County Commissioner Sylvia Garcia's office to clean graffiti in the neighborhood surrounding the new Dynamo stadium.
"The Dynamo are more than just a sports team, and we've shown that over our first five years in Houston," Canetti said. "This is an important opportunity for us to make a positive difference in a community that has supported us over the past five years and that will become our home in the next few years."
