HOUSTON (Aug. 24, 2024) – Houston Dynamo 2 return to action this Sunday, Aug. 25, at SaberCats Stadium to close the two-game homestand against Minnesota United FC 2. Both sides have already matched up against each other twice this season, with Houston coming out victorious in both games, winning 3-1 on June 30 and 4-1 this past Wednesday.

Dynamo 2 hope to keep things rolling this weekend after Wednesday’s win against Minnesota at SaberCats Stadium. Midfielder Ousmane Sylla finished the match with a hat-trick, marking the highest goal performance by a Dynamo 2 player this MLS NEXT Pro campaign. Striker Gabe Segal also found the back of the net during the match, scoring his seventh goal of the 2024 season. Both Sylla and Segal are now tied for the most goals this season.

Dynamo Academy alum Kieran Sargeant and 15-year-old Mattheo Dimareli were also in the action, tallying an assist each while tying Jefferson Valverde and Sylla with three chances created during the match. On the defensive side, Houston held Minnesota to one shot on target the whole game.

Minnesota United continues to be at the bottom of the Western Conference standings with 19 points and a record of 5-13-2 (WLD). During their matchup against Houston on Wednesday, it was midfielder Rory O’Driscoll who gave Minnesota the only goal of the night.

Dynamo Dos leads the all-time series against Minnesota, with four victories and one draw out of their five meetings in regular season play. In 2023, Houston won the season series with a 4-1 victory at the National Sports Center Stadium in June. The two teams split the points in the second meeting of the season at SaberCats Stadium in July.

Dynamo 2 will next host Ventura County FC on Sunday, Sept. 8, at SaberCats Stadium before hitting the road and facing Austin FC II on Friday, Sept. 13 at Parmer Field. Tickets for Sunday’s home match is free and available HERE.
