Houston Dynamo 2 travel to Providence Park in Oregon on Friday to begin a three-game road trip. This is the second longest road trip of the season for Dynamo 2, who navigated a four-game road trip earlier season.

The team recently split a two-game homestand at SaberCats Stadium with a victory over St. Louis CITY 2 and a loss to the Tacoma Defiance. Femi Awodesu scored his first goal of the season last Sunday following a cross from Ousmane Sylla, his third assist of the season. Maddox Findlay, one of seven Dynamo Academy players or alums to take the field on Sunday, scored the go-ahead goal in the second half. That was Findlay’s second goal of the season and the 17-year-old has scored in back-to-back games.

Defensively, Nico Hansen finished with five saves against Tacoma on Sunday evening. Sebastian Rodriguez, a Homegrown player from Porter, Texas, led the team with six clearances and finished with five recoveries. Isaac Mwakutuya led the team with five tackles won against Tacoma. The Dynamo Academy defender also led the team with eight duels won.

Houston entered Sunday’s match with a four-game unbeaten streak after earning a point in a 2-2 draw against North Texas SC on April 28. Houston would go on to earn five points from their next two games as they closed a four-game road trip with a 2-1 victory over Real Monarchs on May 8.

Friday’s match is the lone meeting between the two teams this season. The series was split in 2023 with each team winning three points on the road. Houston defeated the Timbers 3-1 at Providence Park last September en route to qualifying for the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro postseason. The all-time series is currently tied with two victories for each team.

Timbers 2 enter Friday’s game with a 3-4-3 (WLD) record and open a two-game homestand on Friday. The team won back-to-back games prior to losing 2-1 to North Texas SC on May 18. Nine different players have scored for Timbers 2 this season and Kyle Linhares leads the team in goal contributions with three goals and three assists.

Houston’s three game road trip continues next week as Dynamo 2 face Sporting KC II at Rock Chalk Park on June 7. The team will close the road trip on June 16 when they face St. Louis CITY 2 at CITYPARK. Dynamo 2 return to SaberCats Stadium on June 23 to host Colorado Rapids 2 at 7:00 p.m. CT.
